Description
Despite vintage looks, Breitling’s Premier B25 Datora is definitely not your grandfather’s watch. Taking design cues from Breitling’s triple calendar chrono pieces first made in the 1940’s, the Premier B25 connects the elements that made the original great with modern updates that will keep this watch ticking for decades to come.
The impossible task for watch designers is balancing functionality and legibility. Breitling – known for busy dials – have shown their skill in ensuring that the face of the B25 is not just utilitarian, but good-looking. With near perfect symmetry, each complication is leveled carefully against its opposite element; the day readout aligns with the month while the small-seconds sundial counterbalances the 30-minute timer. Even the moonphase at the 6 o’clock spot is gracefully designed and encircled by the date readout. All this is schemed across a dial whose color falls somewhere between pink and orange. Salmon? Not quite, but it is gorgeous nonetheless. The beating heart of this watch – the COSC-certified B25 movement – is visible through the display caseback and with 42 hours of power reserve, can be relied upon to tell accurate time even after being “de-wristed” for a day or more. All in, the B25 is one of our favorite releases this year and with its deep utility presented in a heritage styled package, perfectly represents the things Breitling does best.
