Description
In late 2013, the renowned polar explorer, Ben Saunders and his team mate Tarka L’Herpiniere walked from Scott’s hut on the north shore of Ross Island in Antarctica to the South Pole. Once there, they turned around and walked the 900 miles back – pulling their own supplies by sled the whole way. Their record-breaking 1,795 mile trek was the first to complete Scott’s route to the South Pole. On the outside of their jackets the two polar explorers wore their new Terra Nova chronometers. Far too cold for any type of battery operated device, the light titanium Supermarine with its GMT functionality and specially oiled mechanical movement became an indispensable tool.
