Breguet pieces are in many ways the gold standard of classic watchmaking and design. Well-regarded among enthusiasts, Breguet has quietly maintained a standard for balance and precision in a technological era and done so with little advertising compared to their luxury brand counterparts.
Built on the elegant design of Breguet’s Classique line, the Classique Perpetual Calendar is among the most technically advanced and stunningly intricate made by the Swiss manufacturer. The 39mm 18kt yellow gold case houses a wide array of functionality controlled by the single gold crown at the 3 o’clock position and recessed buttons in the case’s right side. The perpetual calendar’s awesome utility begins with a 6 o’clock subdial utilizing a simple blued hand to indicate date. Just north of this, a centered subdial cleverly specifies the month while the year is shown off to the left and can accurately track for up to 4 years. Days are shown on the right side just beneath the moonphase indicator. Classic Breguet-style hands in blue spin centrally to indicate hours and minutes among the black roman numeral indicators. A power-reserve indicator rounds out the endlessly functional dial – engraved on a rose-engine – and displays 45-hour potential.
On the reverse, an exhibition caseback shows a movement that must be seen to be believed. The Breguet automatic movement is adorned and engraved making it a piece of art in its own right. The black leather strap and matching gold clasp finish off the incredible design.
This piece is in excellent pre-owned condition, showing slight surface scratches on the case and caseback. Does not include original box/papers.
