With its clean, conventional layout, it is easy to overlook the Montblanc Star Chrono. However, closer inspection reveals the exacting level of detail that went into designing this piece. The solid stainless steel case rests comfortably on the wrist and contains the Calibre 4810.503 movement. An automatic, it powers the myriad complications including chronograph features including a 30-minute and 12-hour timer as well as a small-seconds sundial at 9 o’clock. With rose gold hands that match the Roman numeral applied indices, this watch’s design language sits somewhere between vintage and trendy. The world’s obsession with rose gold has no end in sight and it is employed here tastefully. Finally, a GMT indicator subtly runs the dial’s circumference, a nod to the need for time-indication in multiple timezones while traveling. On a brand new tan leather aftermarket strap that accents the dial elegantly, this timepiece is a value proposition like few we’ve seen recently.
