We all know you can tell a lot about a person by the watch they wear. But with hundreds of brands using a plethora of materials in endless combinations, it can be difficult to pin down individual attributes by model or even make. That’s where two-tone watches come in. Regardless of shape, size, or brand, a two-tone watch is a style choice that tips its cap to the past while remaining on the edge of current trends. It shows the wearer is plugged in to both the old and the new And when it’s a Rolex, it carries even more weight. So it’s no surprise that the Rolex GMT-Master II 16713 occupies a special place in any collector’s watchbox. Read on to learn more about this unique piece!
Known as the ‘Tigerauche” (Tiger’s Eye), the Rolex 16713 blends steel, gold, and black that calls to mind the eye of the jungle’s fiercest hunter. Slightly slimmer than its predecessor the 16710, the GMT-Master 16713 measures 12mm thick and 40mm in diameter. This particular piece, made in 2002, features SuperLuminova hands and indices, adding functionality to an already highly functional watch. The Oysterlink bracelet is comfortable and with 12 links, is sized for wrists up to 8”. Taken together, the GMT-Master II is all the things that make Rolex watches desirable – functional, fashionable, and future-proof.
