Description
Paying honor to a rich racing heritage, the moniker “Carrera” has long been associated with Porsche and its success in the incredibly fast – and incredibly dangerous – Carrera Panamericana race in the 1950’s. Heuer (these were the days before the acquisition by TAG) commemorated those historical years with the Carrera line of watches which has since become a brand staple. The rest, as they say, is history.
Featuring a captivating dial whose color falls somewhere between pitch black and dark blue, the Grand Carrera GMT shows off contrasting colors of highly polished silver hands and indices as well as red accents in the GMT window at the 6 o’clock position. The date feature, just north of the dial’s center, gives a clear readout while the bottom text indicates that the piece is officially certified as a chronometer thanks to its Caliber 8 movement. The stainless steel case, at 42.5mm diameter, is polished with an exhibition caseback and finished with a black alligator leather strap and folding steel clasp that features a subtle TAG Heuer logo to match the one emblazoned on the crown.
