Tiffany & Co, the historic jewelry firm out of New York, has a rich history in watches. Tiffany began selling timepieces as early as 1847, and found great success at the beginning of the 20th century selling watches with small, rectangular cases and manually wound movements. These pieces, often utilizing an Art-Deco aesthetic became very sought after during the time, and still have a cult following today.
While collectors get particularly excited about Rolex watches with the Tiffany stamp, any watch bearing the iconic jeweler’s namesake is worth a second look. This particular example features a mechanical movement produced by Movado – a legendary jewelry firm in its own right. By our estimation, it was produced in the late 1930’s. Thus, it features an Art-Deco design that is both minimalist and fun. Best of all, it’s still running like a champ, which is a testament to the quality and longevity of its vintage Movado movement.
Thanks to its interesting history, beautiful design, and 14 karat solid gold case, this watch makes a fantastic dress watch and a great alternative to a Cartier Tank. Overall, it is in very good pre-owned condition, with scratches on its case indicative of its age.
