    Description

When Omega announced the all new Chronoscope watches in September 2020, we here at Feldmar fell instantly in love. Like Omega, Feldmar’s history runs deep and the 1930’s inspired designs took us back to the first years of Feldmar in the early-20th century. Featuring the Caliber 9908 hand-wound movement – used here in the Speedmaster line for the first time – the Chronoscope is at once a neo-vintage and technically forward timepiece.

We are excited to have the Chronoscope in store and from the moment it arrived, we were immediately impressed by this piece’s versatility. Serving both aesthetic and functional purposes, the dial features concentrically arranged scales for three key complications: a tachymeter, pulsometer, and telemeter. The latter is one of the rarer complications available today and can be used in conjunction with the chronograph seconds hand to measure distance: start the timer when you see a lightning strike, stop it when you hear the thunder, and the telemeter will tell you how far off it is. Similarly, the pulsometer can be started when taking a pulse to measure heart rate. Count out 30 beats, stop the timer, and the scale will tell you the current pulse of you or your patient.

All this is powered by the manual-wind movement, similar in architecture to the famous 33.3 movements used in the 1930’s and 40’s when Omega made its first line of chronoscope watches. With 60 hours of power reserve, this movement is powerful and slim – the new Chronoscope lineup is 12.8mm thick, making it the thinnest Speedmaster around. The bracelet offers tooless micro-adjustment, a feature long-awaited by Omega fans. Available in 4 dial versions, 3 of which are available on bracelet or strap, the Chronoscope is a watch as versatile as it is useful.

We’re excited for the Chronoscope for its ability to bridge the past and present. It is high-end yet simplified, artful yet functional. And with a hand-wound movement operating at the pinnacle of performance, demonstrates that Omega has always had mastery in premium watchmaking.
