Description
As one of the leading luxury watch brands in the world, Cartier is known for its many distinctive, iconic designs. According to Cartier lore, the Pasha was first created in 1932 as at the request the Sultan of Marrakech, who wanted to wear his timepiece while swimming and bathing. Thus, the Pasha became the first ever waterproof timepiece developed by Cartier.
In 1985, legendary watch designer Gerald Genta was tasked to design a new version of the Cartier Pasha. His iteration of the piece featured a round case with distinctive “Vendome” lugs, and an oversized crown cap topped with a blue sapphire cabochon. The crown cap, attached to the case with a small steel link, gives the watch added water resistance. Genta’s design proved to be wildly successful throughout the 1980’s-2000’s, and after a brief discontinuation was just reintroduced by Cartier in early 2020.
This example of the Pasha, the reference 1030 1, features a stainless steel case sized at a modest 35 mm – a diameter well-suited for both men and women. It is equipped with 100 meters of water resistance, and an automatic movement with approximately 40 hours of power reserve. It is in excellent pre-owned condition, with minimal surface wear on its case and buckle. It comes with a black leather strap and original Cartier stainless steel folding buckle.
