Baselworld 2018: Updated Models, New Collections and More
We recently returned from a busy couple of days at Baselworld and had a great time meeting with some of the biggest and best brands in the industry and seeing their latest innovations. Highlights included sitting with the US President of Zenith, Thierry Collot, and adding some new brands to our product offerings that we know our customers are going to love.
One of our favorite parts of the trip each year is seeing what new models, collections and technologies are unveiled by our brand partners. Here are some of the standouts from this year’s show.
OMEGA announced the debut of their timepiece honoring the Apollo 8 mission in 1968. Featuring a skeletonized dial that reveals a laser-ablated movement accurately depicting the lunar surface and a case back etched with the words “we’ll see you on the other side,” this watch truly embodies the pioneering spirit of the Apollo mission. This revolutionary timepiece will be available in stores starting in August 2018.
OMEGA also announced their updated Seamaster Diver 300m collection. Celebrating 25 years, each piece in the collection has received a makeover with features to enhance precision and performance. The collection boasts 14 new models, 6 stainless steel and 8 stainless steel and gold, all on a rubber strap or a metal bracelet.
Nomos Glashutte celebrated the start of spring with their release of the Tetra Petit Four Series, classic square Tetra timepieces in four beautiful new colors – matcha, grenadine, azure and pearl.
Nomos also debuted an entirely new model, the Autobahn, which comes in three driving-inspired versions designed in collaboration with Werner Aisslinger. Named after the famous highway without a speed limit and featuring a three-lane date window, a ring of superluminova fields that allows the time to be displayed in the dark and the new Neomatik caliber, the collection combines modern design with the watchmaking technologies the brand is known for.
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 9S automatic caliber, Grand Seiko unveiled three limited edition timepieces in platinum, 18k gold and stainless steel. Each watch pays tribute to the precision of the 9S caliber, the launch of which in 1998 remains one of the most defining and impactful moments in Grand Seiko history.
Casio G-SHOCK unveiled several innovations at this year’s show including the first-ever connected MT-G timepiece which features Bluetooth capabilities and a smartphone link via the G-SHOCK Connected app. This watch will be available in stores beginning in July 2018.
As always, we are proud to partner with brands who share our passion for innovation and advancement. If any of these unique timepieces catches your eye and you want to learn more, simply contact us or stop in one of our stores.
