Directly connected to American railroad history, Ball was founded in 1891 when Webb C. Ball was designated “Chief Time Inspector” by Lake Shore Railroad.
Following a deadly train crash caused by a malfunctioning watch, there was a need for an expert to step in and set a stringent inspection system and strict timing standards for the industry. The standards set by Ball over 120 years ago are still upheld in every Ball timepiece, allowing the company to remain true to their motto, “accuracy under adverse conditions.”
