Description
Watches made to benefit charitable organizations are nothing new in the world of luxury timepieces. Brands like IWC, Seiko, and Breitling (just to name a few) have partnered with a constellation of organizations benefiting a wide array of philanthropic efforts. In this arena, Oris is a leader. Its “Change for the Better” initiative is now in its eleventh year and its first series release for 2021 is sure to excite.
The Aquis Whale Shark limited edition features a deep teal dial in a special mottled shark skin finish evocative of the timepiece’s namesake. Also unique to this edition is the bi-directional two-tone bezel and caseback relief engraving showing a swimming whale shark. As part of the Aquis line, the Whale Shark features a 43.5mm case, domed sapphire crystal, Super-LumiNova hands and indices, and dive rating to 300m. Limited to just 2,016 pieces (the year whale sharks were added to the endangered species list), a portion of the proceeds from all sales benefits conservationist Eduardo del Villar’s work to help protect these magnificent creatures.
