Description
The world got its first glimpse of the Black Bay Ceramic all the way back in 2019. At the time, it was a one-of-a-kind unit made for Christie’s Auction House’s charitable event, Only Watch. The biennial event is a hotly anticipated program that brings together the world of high horology to auction off one-off timepieces. With proceeds benefiting charitable causes, it is a low-stakes environment for watchmakers to test out ideas in an extremely limited format. In 2019, the buzz was all about TUDOR’s contribution, an all-black ceramic affair that went for a staggering 350,000 CHF (just north of $390,000 USD today).Â
And with this week’s hotly anticipated announcement from TUDOR, fans were entreated to a highly similar version of that stealthy piece, but one that is now more widely available – the Black Bay Ceramic M79210CNU-0001. Differing from it’s forerunner in several ways – the dial markers are luminous white instead of all-black – the newest addition to the Black Bay lineup also features a captivating sunburst finish to the ceramic bezel that gives the watch a sense of movement. Additionally, the matte black ceramic case is durable while the hybrid rubber/fabric strap adds to the watch’s overall subtle presence. Best of all, it ships with an extra NATO style strap to give maximum versatility in styling depending on the situation. With a sturdy Manufacture Calibre MT5602-1U movement protected by TUDOR’s famous 5 year warranty, the all-new BB Ceramic 41mm is a watch awaiting orders for its next mission!
