Collection Spotlight: Omega Seamaster Summer Blue Collection
Any new collection from Omega is a cause for celebration, and the Seamaster Summer Blue collection is no exception. Recently, the #FeldmarFam visited Omega’s launch event in La Jolla, CA to go hands-on with all 11 references from the stunning collection. A tribute to the 75th Anniversary of Omega’s iconic, revolutionary diving watch, the Seamaster, each watch in this new collection shares something else truly special—a color. Summer Blue, to be exact. This glistening color varies in depth and intensity depending on the water resistance of the Seamaster model, from Aqua Terra to Ultra Deep, achieved with layers of lacquer on the dial. Let’s dive in, and meet these extraordinary timepieces.
Summer Blue – An Inspired Collection
For many collectors, the Seamaster is the world’s quintessential dive watch. Adorning the wrists of figures from Prince William to 007, the collection has established itself as one of the most beloved divers today. Over three-quarters of a century, the Seamaster has taken on new life in dressy forms like the Aqua Terra, heritage styles like the Seamaster 300, and ultra-rugged variants like the PloProf and Planet Ocean. No matter if you’re taking a dip in the pool or setting diving world records, there is a Seamaster that’s up for the challenge. For the Summer Blue collection, Omega has crafted dials that start off as very light blue and progress to near-black, correlating with the watch’s depth rating. By simulating the way light permeates water, getting darker with depth, Omega has created a collection that is at home beneath the waves.
Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra “Summer Blue” 38mm
The original 1957 Seamaster was justly acclaimed for its clean, harmonious design aesthetic. The Aqua Terra 38mm pays homage to that classic watch, with a pleasingly symmetrical case crafted of stainless steel, and a matching brushed and polished stainless steel bracelet. The dial, in sunburst summer blue, features light blue Super-LumiNova rhodium-plated hands, along with light blue Super-LumiNova sailboat-shaped indexes. The stunning look is paired with a world-class METAS-certified Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8800 movement, for unparalleled precision. Water resistant to 150 meters.
Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra “Summer Blue” 41mm
The 41mm Aqua Terra model shares many attributes with the 38mm, including the classic lines of the 1957 Seamaster, the brushed and polished stainless steel case and bracelet, and the water resistance to 150 meters. The 41mm is also available with a bold blue rubber strap. The dial on this model has a summer blue gradient finish, with the same rhodium-plated hands, but Super-LumiNova coated geometric indexes in place of the sailboat shapes. Outfitted with an equally precise and impressive Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 8900, and certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer Co-Axial Master Chronometer “Summer Blue”
For watch enthusiasts who are as equally at home in Auckland or Beijing as they are in Los Angeles or London, this timepiece was made for you. The blue, multi-layered, laser-engraved dial features a world map ringed with global cities, along with day and night indicators. A hesalite glass connects the inner and outer displays. The 43mm stainless steel case is matched with a stainless steel bracelet, and a blue rubber strap is also available. The hands and indexes are coated with light blue Super-LumiNova for superior visibility, even at the watery depths of 150 meters that this model is resistant to. This Worldtimer is powered by an Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 8938.
Omega Seamaster 300 Co-Axial Master Chronometer “Summer Blue”
In 1957 Omega introduced, with great fanfare, their Professional trilogy—the Seamaster, the Speedmaster, and the Railmaster—watches that have stood the horological test of time. This Summer Blue edition continues that memorable legacy, in both sleek, classic look and METAS-certified chronometer. The 41mm polished and brushed stainless steel case is the perfect setting for the darker, richer, lacquered summer blue dial, as befits the water resistance to 300 meters. Like the other models in the collection, the rhodium-plated hands, hour markers and numerals are filled with light blue Super-LumiNova. A stainless steel bracelet completes the look.
