Event Recap: 2024 Sol Meller Memorial Blood Drive

A Day to Remember: Community, Giving Back, and Incredible Prizes

This year’s Sol Meller Memorial Blood Drive — now in its 8th year — was a perfect blend of community spirit, generosity, and fun! The Cedars-Sinai mobile blood donation truck, a beloved annual staple, was on-site to make donating blood easy and impactful. Attendees showed up with big hearts, helping ensure that life-saving supplies reach those in need.

The Yeastie Boys Bagels food truck was a crowd-pleaser once again, serving up their signature bagels and spreads that kept everyone smiling and satisfied. Meanwhile, the Hirschberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research joined us to share their inspiring mission and connect with attendees, bringing awareness and a sense of purpose to the day. Each year in October, “Team Sol Meller” walks in the foundation’s flagship 5k run/walk event, the LA Cancer Challenge.

Of course, no event is complete without some friendly competition, and our raffle delivered big-time. Excitement was in the air as participants won stunning prizes, including the Seiko SPB359, a ladies’ watch from Frederique Constant, and the ever-popular Tissot PRX. On top of that, hourly drawing for fun watch swag ensured we kicked off the season of giving in good form.

Whether you were donating blood, enjoying a bagel, learning more about impactful causes, or crossing your fingers for a raffle prize, this event had something for everyone. It was a day to celebrate community, kindness, and shared joy.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took the time to donate blood at the Cedars-Sinai mobile truck—you’ve made a life-saving difference in the lives of countless individuals. Your generosity embodies the spirit of Sol Meller. We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to Seiko for sponsoring this event for a second year in a row! Seiko’s support helped make the day truly special and memorable for everyone involved.
