3 of Our Favorite Tudor Watches

Unsurprising to watch fans the world over, one of the most popular brands at Feldmar and in the wider horological world is Tudor. With nearly 100 years of watchmaking experience, Tudor has come to symbolize some of the best watchmaking has to offer – high quality, practicality, accessibility, and excellent design. They’re known for producing incredibly sturdy watches that have been used by people working in harsh conditions such as the French and U.S. Navy. Tudor watches are innovative and technical, but they also have adventurous designs that play with bold colors and exciting metals.

Tudor has cultivated a unique following and buyers line up for weeks and months for a Tudor timepiece, a clear sign that the Geneva-based brand must be doing something right!

While the world of Tudor watches is immense, here are three of our favorite Tudor timepieces:

1. Tudor Black Bay GMT

Tudor is known for its highly successful Black Bay line and unique in that collection is the Black Bay GMT. Introduced in 2012, the Black Bay collection set in motion the modern craze for Tudor watches. This frenzy went to the next level with the release of the Black Bay GMT model. Its bezel is a rich blue and red – fondly referred to by fans as a “Pepsi” bezel – which helps distinguish day and night in the second time zone. Signature snowflake-style hands and a bright red GMT hand are markers of Tudor’s heritage, while inside, it carries a modern MT5652 movement. You can get this watch on a vintage-inspired bracelet, a leather strap or an intricately detailed textile strap. This stainless steel travel watch combines the brand’s best features from its Black Bay dive watches with proper GMT functionality, making it perfect for travelers.

2. Tudor Black Bay 58

The Black Bay line blends a classic aesthetic with modern watchmaking techniques. Rather than simply re-release classics, the line takes inspiration from over a deep back catalog of Tudor diver’s watches but remains contemporary. Although it looks neo-vintage, its sturdiness, manufacturing techniques and reliability all stand up to today’s stringent requirements. The Black Bay story started in 2012 with the introduction of the Black Bay Heritage – reference 7922R – and continued over the subsequent six years as the line expanded to include more styles. In 2018, Tudor introduced the Black Bay Fifty-Eight, so-named in tribute to 60 years of Tudor dive watches. At 39mm, the BB58 is a more accessible size for smaller wrists than the original 41mm collection. Several years on, the Fifty-Eight is one of the hottest watches around. With new variants releasing regularly, the timepiece is a modern favorite with its trademark snowflake hands, solid colors and appealing shape.

3. Tudor Pelagos

The Pelagos is a striking example of a tool watch and the spirit of adventure as one of today’s most complete traditional mechanical divers’ watches. It is meant for those undertaking serious aquatic adventures and at it’s price-point, is an undisputed champion in terms of value and performance. Updated in 2015 with more color combinations and a Tudor-manufactured movement, the Pelagos is in an echelon of it’s own.  There’s no need to be afraid to take this watch with you when you explore open waters, as the Pelagos is built to withstand extreme pressures and environments thanks to an all-titanium construction, helium-escape valve, and water resistance to over 500m. Additionally, it is one of the only modern tool watches available in a left-hand variant.

This timepiece was developed to honor the brand’s heritage while doubling as a reliable, genuine tool. It was rigorously tested throughout natural conditions worldwide. With its lightweight design and almost bulletproof construction, the Pelagos is a worthy dive watch.
