New Release: TUDOR Pelagos 39

It’s one of TUDOR’s most popular, most purpose built timepieces and now, it’s available in a smaller, more compact version. Introducing the TUDOR Pelagos 39

TUDOR has historically built out most product families to include multiple sizes and the Pelagos is no different. The Pelagos 39 joins TUDOR as the fourth model in the Pelagos product family, a collection of functional and useful tool instruments.

In order to achieve a more compact size, two of the major differentiators of the new Pelagos 39 are water resistance (500 meters vs. 200 meters) and the absence of the helium gas escape valve. Even with these changes, the Pelagos 39 closely resembles its larger siblings and is an excellent professional dive watch with added aesthetic details.

The 39mm satin-brushed case is made with grade 2 titanium and features a unidirectional rotating bezel. The ceramic insert is finished with a satin sunray and grade X1 Swiss Super-LumiNova®. “Snowflake” hands, one of the hallmarks of TUDOR dive watches, glide elegantly across the dial.

The titanium three-link bracelet features the TUDOR “T-fit” folding clasp for ease of use, although it doesn’t have the “auto-adjust” feature pioneered by its 42mm older brother. A complementary black rubber strap with a pin buckle is included.

The timepiece is powered by the Manufacture Calibre MT5400, certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). TUDOR insists on going even beyond the standards set by COSC, offering -2 and +4 seconds’ variation in its running. The timepiece is described as “weekend proof,” boasting a power reserve of 70 hours.

Color, finish, and specs come together in the new Pelagos with the watch name emblazoned in red upon the dial.  In addition to the case size, the number of lines of dial text has been reduced while new finishes – a departure from the 42mm’s matte dial/bezel combo – gives the 39mm version a sense of dynamism.

With this release, TUDOR has successfully introduced a sports watch that is technologically advanced while remaining undeniably chic. Whether you’re wearing it everyday or on adventures of all kinds, the Pelagos 39 has something for every watch enthusiast.
