Six Best Glashütte Original Dials

The master watchmakers at Glashütte Original are world renowned for state-of-the-art technological excellence and exacting precision, but true watch aficionados also celebrate them for the striking originality and the beauty of their dials. While it was supremely difficult, we managed to select six of our favorites. Read on to learn more about some of these stunning dials!

Glashütte Original Vintage Sixties Glacier Blue

Dramatic alpine glaciers standing in sharp relief against a clear mountain sky—that’s the inspiration for the dial of the Glasütte Vintage Sixties Glacier Blue. Domed, with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and a rim of the darkest blue that delicately shimmers to glacier blue lacquer with a dazzling dégradé effect, the dial at hand is purely captivating. Other design features include a skeletonized rotor and Super-LumiNova coated hands. Encircled by a stainless steel case, and accessorized with a strap of brown-grey nubuck calfskin, this watch will have you yearning to pack your bags and head to the mountains.

Glashütte Original Vintage Sixties Green Chronograph

A gradient of the brightest green at the center to a rich, dark green at the edges, the dégradé effect combines with a stunning embossed textural element to give this dial the lively motion befitting the swinging sixties that inspired it. Two subdials anchor and balance the dial—one counting seconds, the other 30 minutes. Incised hour markers with luminous dots, rod-shaped hands with Super-LumiNova inlays and chronograph counters complete the look with style to spare. A stainless steel case and brown-grey nubuck calf strap add sophistication and elegance.

Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar Green

A green found only in deep forest pools of richest emerald lends rich hues to the dial of the PanoMaticLunar green. The one-of-a-kind gradient works its way from luscious green to midnight black at the edges. The dial itself is a triumph of form and function in perfect harmony, with features that include red gold hands and hour markers with Super-LumiNova, moon phase display, off-centered hours and minutes dial, panorama date and a small seconds subdial. The polished red gold case and crown flawlessly accent the dial, and the green Louisiana alligator strap is the ideal complement.

Glashütte Original PanoMaticInverse

Is it fair to include a dial-less watch in a list of best dials? There’s an exquisite beauty in the invisible made visible, in technological brilliance unconcealed. The dial of the PanoMaticInverse makes this indisputably evident with a three-quarter plate that lays bare the base plate perlage, gold chatons, ruby bearings and elegantly hand-engraved butterfly bridge. The balance of the galvanized dial is rhodium-plated with bold vertical detailing on the face, off-centered hours and minutes dial, small seconds subdial, blued hands, panorama date and Super-LumiNova inlaid hands. A stainless steel case and blue Louisiana alligator strap complete the look.

Glashütte Original Vintage Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date

The seventies—an eclectic mix of flares and platforms, bell sleeves and peasant blouses—are the clear, audacious inspiration for this retro-modern dial. Sumptuous curves and compelling lines highlight a galvanized blue sunburst dial. The myriad of features include a 12-hour counter on aperture at 12 o’clock, 30 minute subdial at 3 o’clock, Super-LumiNova inlays on hands and hour markers, panorama date, power reserve indicator and a small seconds subdial. The watch is finished with a brown-grey calfskin leather strap and a stainless steel case. And in a final nod to the era from which it derives its name, the Seventies is housed in a “TV” case, reminiscent of family evenings crowded around the tube!

glashutte original spezialist seaq panorama date

Glashütte Original Spezialist SeaQ Panorama Date

The ideal timepiece for creators and adventurers both, the Spezialist SeaQ Panorama Date may echo 19th century Glashütte, but with a refined aesthetic that is very much the 21st. Features include a galvanic grey dial framed by a black rotating bezel, and highlighted with an 18K red gold crown. Other dial features of note: appliqués with Super-LumiNova, Arabic numeral markers, panorama date and Super-LumiNova inlaid hands.
