The Legacy Lives on: Remembering Sol Meller
It is with tremendous sadness that Feldmar Watch Company announces the passing of Sol Meller.
Sol passed away in the evening on Monday, November 30th surrounded by his family after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Sol’s career at Feldmar Watch Company began when he married Nancy Feldmar and became part of the Feldmar family. Approaching law school graduation, Sol was asked by his in-laws, Harriet and Barney Feldmar, to join their family business in the early 1970s. Once he began working at Feldmar, he quickly gained an understanding of the watch industry. Sol’s understanding coupled with his spirit, passion, kindness and respect for everyone he came in contact with, proved to be the keys to him becoming the role model and leader he was for so many. Referred to as “Uncle Sol” by his beloved employees, countless industry friends and longtime client friends, Sol had a way with words that left a lasting impression on all of those lucky enough to know him. Sol was the consummate salesman and is credited with transforming Feldmar Watch Company into what it is today. He adhered to Feldmar Watch Company’s core value – exceptional customer service along with a focused, but wide product offering.
Sol’s vision of the watch industry allowed him to become a true leader amongst retailers and set new standards at every level leaving behind a unmatched legacy. He will be sorely missed by all and remembered as being dedicated to his craft while always being quick with a hug, a handshake or a smile.
Sol’s memory will live on in every aspect of Feldmar Watch Company and especially in his son Scott, who worked side by side with his father for over 20 years, and who will continue to emulate the characteristics that his father instilled in him to oversee the family business.
Feldmar Watch Company wouldn’t be what it is today without Sol and while the business won’t be the same without him, his family will work to preserve the legacy he left behind.
