Collector’s Perspective: A Defining Year for Zenith
For the first time, LVMH’s Watch Week took place January 13th-15th. Our team, of course, had to travel to Dubai and check it out for ourselves.
The venue? The Bvlgari Resort Dubai, the largest establishment in the Bvlgari hotel collection. The vibe? Transformative. LVMH Maisons Bvlgari, Hublot, TAG Heuer and Zenith hosted the first edition of the event, which provided a unique opportunity to showcase new timepieces and set the overall tone for the watch industry in 2020. Our favorites were some of the new Zenith releases for 2020.
El Primero A384 Revival with Ladder Bracelet
As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for the El Primero, the A384 Revival features the ladder-style bracelet that was featured on the original. In 1969, eager to highlight their revolutionary El Primero movement with a stunning and unique design, Guy Frères, a respected third-party bracelet manufacturer, was hired and the unique ladder bracelet was born. This watch gives Zenith fans the opportunity to wear a little piece of history and certainly makes a statement on the wrist. Find additional details here.
Pilot Type 20 Rescue and Pilot Type 20 Chronograph Rescue
Zenith announced two Pilot Type 20 updates – the Rescue and the Chronograph Rescue editions. With Zenith’s longstanding ties to aviation, these updates come as no surprise and are surrounded by much excitement from the flying community. The timepieces adopt a contemporary color palette, slate grey and yellow, and are presented with distressed black calfskin straps and stainless steel dials. Find additional details here and here.
DEFY El Primero 21 Land Rover Edition
2020 is a big year for Land Rover with the release of their next generation Land Rover Defender. It’s only fitting that Zenith reinforced their partnership with Land Rover by releasing their most original collaborative watch to date. The DEFY 21 Land Rover Edition is modern and durable, rugged and comfortable. It is crafted in microblasted titanium, with subtle details that embody the distinct character of the newest addition to the Land Rover lineup. A limited edition of just 250 pieces, fans of Zenith and Land Rover will need to act fast in order to get their hands on this one. Find additional details here.
DEFY El Primero 21 Carl Cox
Zenith has introduced its newest Friend of the Brand, Carl Cox, world-renowned DJ and producer known best for his work in the house and techno music fields. Turn off the lights and you’ll find that the carbon fiber bezel and strap stitching glow in the dark. The open dial features a rotating disk shaped like a vinyl record at 9 o’clock. 2020 is bound to be a “star” year for Zenith. We can’t get to get some of these stunning timepieces on our customer’s wrists!

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Scott joined Feldmar Watch Company, Inc. under the tutelage of his father, Sol. As a fourth generation family member, Scott’s forward-thinking business acumen has placed Feldmar on the cutting edge of the luxury timepiece market. Scott’s favorite part about working at Feldmar is being a part of his family’s multi-generational business and having worked alongside his father. His accomplishments are many, including the expansion and remodel of the Feldmar flagship store, as well as a second location inside The Beverly Hilton.
Since attending Santa Monica College, Scott has become an expert in the technical aspects of the timepieces sold at Feldmar. Each year, he travels to Switzerland—the watchmaking capital of the world—to attend the Baselword Watch & Jewelry Fair and build upon his extensive knowledge of this quickly-evolving industry.
Scott is very proud of the way Feldmar customers are put first: “We regularly go out of our way to meet the needs of our clients. A client once purchased a rather significant watch as a birthday gift for his brother who lived in New York. Our client asked how we were going to deliver the gift and we responded with the typical answer, we would ship it by FedEx. After we answered his question, we could tell that he wanted a more personalized experience for the delivery and offered to have it hand-delivered by one of our associates. He lit up at the thought, and so off went one of our associates to New York City for the day to hand-deliver the gift.”
