Here Comes the Sun(dial)

What’s cookin’, good lookin’? ☮️ Today, we’re breaking out the bell-bottoms and bringing back the mop-tops to celebrate some of the best 1960’s-inspired watches at Feldmar 🌼 Whether your bag is super-groovy divers or a far-out Daytona, this list is seriously righteous! Check it out… it’s a gas! ✌

ZENITH CHRONOMASTER REVIVAL EL PRIMERO A384

The development of the El Primero caliber is the stuff of legends. Zenith, Seiko, Heuer, Hamilton, and Breitling were in hot competition to introduce the first automatic chronograph. By a nose, Zenith was the first across the finish line, introducing the El Primero in 1969. It remains one of the best ultra-high frequency movements with style to spare! 🐼

OMEGA SPEEDMASTER MOONWATCH “HESALITE”

Possibly the most storied timepiece of all time, the Moonwatch returned to its roots in 2021 with the re-introduction of Hesalite crystals 🌛 Like the originals from the 1960s, these Plexiglass derivatives lend an air of authentic nostalgia to an already historic watch.

ACCUTRON SPACEVIEW 2020 ELECTROSTATIC

First sold in 1961, the Spaceview represented the start of the biggest shift in watch history thus far: the advent of the electrically powered watch ⚡ While not a quartz watch, these Accutrons caught on immediately for their accuracy and space-age looks!

ROLEX COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA – 18KT EVEROSE GOLD

Any list of vintage-inspired watches is incomplete without at least one timepiece from Feldmar’s Pre-Owned showcase, and boy is this one a stunner! 🏅 Originating in the 1960s, the story of the Daytona is one that’s still being written today.

SEIKO PROSPEX SPB147 – 1965 DIVER’S MODERN RE-INTERPRETATION

Featuring Seiko’s famous “62MAS” case shape, the SPB147 pays tribute to the brand’s first professional divers from 1965 🌊 Derived from the name “automatic selfdater”, these watches were revolutionary for their quick-set date feature, a function we now take for granted!

RADO CAPTAIN COOK AUTOMATIC

Hewing close to the original design, the new Rado Captain Cooks commemorate over 60 years of the brand’s most famous diver ⛵ Its 37mm case fits most wrists and, celebrating the year of the first Captain Cook watches, is limited to just 1,962 pieces worldwide.

author

Born in Washington state, Tom developed an interest in photography during college at University of San Diego. There, he got started in music journalism, interviewing artists and taking photos at concerts. A life-long tinkerer and collector, it wasn’t long before Tom became fascinated with fountain pens and watches.

Those interests collided in November 2020 when Tom started at Feldmar Watch Company where he lives out every watch geek’s dream: photographing and writing about timepieces. When he’s not tinkering with his watch collection, Tom can be found traveling, biting his nails while watching PNW sports teams, and taking flying lessons.
