Hot List: July 28, 2023

We’re getting into the dog days of summer, which means baseball, hot nights, and cool watches ⚾ So why not swing for the fences, hit one on the screws, and drop one in the seats with these truly majestic timepiece selections for the week.

GLASHUTTE ORIGINAL SEAQ CHRONOGRAPH

glashutte-original-seaq-chronograph

Looking for a cool watch? Just looking at this G.O. will drop the temperature a few degrees with its icy-blue dial 🧊 But this watch isn’t just a pretty face; it has a column-wheel chronograph that can be admired through the sapphire crystal caseback. It’s also no joke underwater, as it’s been tested according to the strictest of ISO and DIN standards 🌊

ZODIAC SUPER SEA WOLF “METEORITE” ZO9293

zodiac-super-sea-wolf-meteorite

Don’t look up! Actually, if this meteorite is headed your way, you may want to take a gander 🔭 Limited to 182 pieces and and crafted from the Gibeon meteorite in Namibia, this watch boasts an in-house movement at a price that’s truly out of this world.

TUDOR RANGER

Let’s go Rangers! No, not the baseball team. (We’re mostly Dodgers fans here anyway 🧢) One of the best re-issues from Tudor in recent memory, this latest iteration of Tudor’s expedition watch traces it’s roots to the famed British North Greenland Expedition of the early 1950s. It has a manufacture caliber and a lumed dial that will stay remarkably bright, remarkably long.

PARMIGIANI TONDA GT “GRANATA”

parmigiani-tonda-gt-granata

“Granata” is Italian for grenade, and this watch is having an explosive impact over here 💥 It has a 42mm case in polished and satin-finished stainless steel. Its silvered and granata dial, with a “clou triangulaire” guilloché motif, has rhodium-plated hour markers treated with a black luminescent coating. Boom!

IWC PORTUGIESER CHRONOGRAPH WHITE LACQUER/BLUE

iwc-portugieser-chronograph

Check out the cool contrast here between dial and subdial, blue and white. Such nautical colors not only lend these classic IWC models a fresh and contemporary look, but they are also a reminder of the origins of the Portugieser, whose iconic design was inspired by marine deck observation watches ⛵ This particular Portugieser Chronograph features the IWC-manufactured 69355 calibre chronograph movement and a blue rubber strap.

BREITLING SUPER CHRONOMAT B01 LIMITED EDITION

breitling-super-chronomt-b01

Breitling is known for the fine details in the dials of it’s watches, and this Super Chronomat is no exception. It also features several ceramic inserts – on the bezel, on the chronograph pushers and on the crown – as well as a Rouleaux-inspired rubber strap. Oh yeah, and the case is made from 18K red gold 🥇

ACCUTRON ASTRONAUT LIMITED EDITION

accutron-astronaut

How cool is this day/night bezel? 👨‍🚀 This re-edition Astronaut, the first in an exciting new series of Accutron Astronaut timepieces, features a Swiss SW330 GMT movement with a 56-hr power reserve in a 41mm stainless steel case with matching bullet stainless steel bracelet. And seeing as this is an astronaut watch, it’s got Super Lumi-Nova in the indices for enhanced legibility.

BREGUET CLASSIQUE 7137BR

breguet-classique-7137br

While not exactly a piece to wear to the little league game, you’re probably better off wearing this to an MLB owners meeting. With an 18K gold case, a selfwinding extra-thin movement, a date plus a power-reserve indicator, and phases (and age of the moon), you’ll feel like you own the Yankees when you wear this 🥨

GIRARD PERREGAUX LAUREATO SKELETON
girard-perregaux-laureato-skeleton

Did you know that skeleton movements actually keep your wrist cooler because of the enhanced air flow through the metal case? Well, they don’t. What is true is that this watch is a genuine ode to fine mechanics. The Laureato Skeleton offers a glimpse deep into the heart of its magnificent automatic caliber thanks to its impressive openworked components, all decorated by hand in an original and contemporary manner 💀

OMEGA SEAMASTER “ULTRA DEEP”

omega-seamaster-ultra-deep

It’s so hot these days that you may really have to dive down into the depths to get a break from the heat. After reaching the deepest place on Earth in 2019, this ground-breaking Ultra Deep watch has been repurposed into a new 45.5 mm collection available to the public. Though, if you actually get down to the max depth of 20,000 feet, you will have more to worry about than the heat! 🐟
