Top 5 Seiko SPB259 Alternatives
At Feldmar, there’s a Seiko that stands out for a special reason. Since it’s launch in 2021, we’ve received more inquiries for this watch than almost any other in the store! Of course, we’re talking about the Seiko 140th Anniversary Prospex SPB259. Limited to just 3,500 pieces, it is a triumph of watchmaking that sold out globally almost immediately. They pop up on the pre-owned market but we have yet to see one in store since selling our last one. A fitting model to celebrate Seiko’s anniversary, collectors continue to clamor for this rare watch. However, if you love the look and feel of the SPB259, but missed the boat, here are five attractive alternatives for you to consider.
King Seiko SPB365
Also in 2021, Seiko relaunched its “King Seiko” line of watches. With heritage styling, they recall the high-quality KS pieces of the past. The King Seiko SPB365 features a classically contoured stainless steel case in nearly the same size as the SPB259, with engraved and screwed caseback, and an anti-reflective box-shaped sapphire crystal. The textured brown gradient dial is just as striking as the patterned dial of the SPB259, and is ornamented with silver tone hands and hour markers. Designed to fit comfortably on the wrists of both men and women, the King Seiko SPB365 has a 70 hour power reserve, and water resistance of 10 bar. Produced in a limited edition of 1,200 pieces, this dramatic timepiece is paired with a stainless steel bracelet. And it’s in stock! For now….
Seiko Presage SPB227J1 Sharp Edge Series
The Presage SPB227J1 Sharp Edge Series features many of the exquisite design aesthetics that make the SPB259 so sought after—a stainless steel case with super hard coating, see-through screwed case back, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and an automatic movement with manual winding mechanism. The bold gradient red dial with hemp leaf pattern, combined with stylish geometric Lumibrite hands and hour markers and a date indicator at the 3 o-clock position makes a powerful statement. Other features include a 70 hour power reserve, water resistance to 10 bar, and a sleek stainless steel bracelet.
Seiko Presage SSA397
Slightly different from the SPB259, the generously proportioned stainless steel case of the Presage SSA397 has a screw-in see-through case back with a dual-curved sapphire crystal. But like the SPB259, this watch shows that Seiko is a master of dialmaking! The rich, deep green dial features applied indexes, date hand, date sundial, and a captivating power reserve indicator, for a truly classic look. This timepiece is crafted with a precise automatic movement with manual winding mechanism. The sleekly designed stainless steel bracelet has a deployment clasp with push button release.
Seiko Presage SRPB43
One of the most potent features of the Seiko SPB259—the thing that makes it so attractive to watch aficionados—is the extraordinary dial design, and the dial of the Presage SRPB43 is every bit as attractive. The ice-blue dial is textured with a pressed pattern that gives it a shimmering beauty enhanced by seven layers of gloss finish, an anti-reflective box-shaped Hardlex crystal, and uniquely shaped hour markers. The automatic movement allows self and automatic winding capabilities with a power reserve of 41 hours. The refined look of the Presage SRPB43 is completed with a supple black calfskin strap.
Seiko Presage SRPD36
The only downside to wearing the Presage SRPD36 is you may get tired of hearing, “Wow, can I see your watch?” It’s that distinctive. The stainless steel case has a brilliant gold tone finish that’s matched by sharply detailed gold tone hands and hour markers, along with a date indicator window at the 3 o-clock position. Other case features are a rotating compass inner ring and see-through, screw-in case back. The dial color, a deep, varied brown livened with texture, is complemented by a rich brown calfskin leather strap. Available in a limited edition of 8,000 pieces.
