In 1968, Grand Seiko introduced the 45GS movement. Shortly afterwards the Prague Spring began in Czechoslovakia. Correlation or causation? 🤔 We may never know, but the watch on which this recreation is based came just one year afterwards and established Grand Seiko’s unique design language. And check out that cool “Seiko” and “GS” double stamp on the dial!

It takes a lot to make a watch that doesn’t need to have the date reset until March 1, 2100, which coincidentally, will be the year Feldmar opens its New New York location on Mars. This Riviera, limited to 50 pieces, echoes the historic 1985 model featuring a full calendar, but looks resolutely to the future… 🚀

There seems to be almost as much of a space theme this week as a holiday one!
